Dean Scarano is a Senior Vice President for Kaufman Hall’s Treasury and Capital Markets and Partnerships, Mergers and Acquisitions practices. He advises healthcare and senior living clients on strategic transactions, asset divestitures, debt restructurings, credit positioning, interest rate swaps and public/private debt offerings.
Dean has more than 30 years of experience specializing in the healthcare, senior living and higher education sectors as a municipal advisor, investment banker and municipal bond insurance analyst. He has advised on transactions totaling over $7 billion and has assisted health systems, senior living organizations, and public and private universities in the development of capital strategies and has served as an advisor in connection with merger and acquisition and bankruptcy/workout engagements.
Dean previously served as a Managing Director at Ponder & Co. for the Capital Advisory Group, where he maintained specific expertise in the development of restructuring plans for organizations with complex credit situations and in devising innovative credit strategies, particularly for borrowers in the senior living sector. He developed and executed restructuring plans utilizing both trust instruction proceedings as well as negotiated tenders and bond exchanges.
Dean holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University at Albany and a B.A. in Economics from Binghamton University; he is a registered Municipal Advisor (Series 50).
