He has a particular emphasis on enhancing the efficiency of emergency department processes, which includes overseeing comprehensive electronic medical record conversions.
Over the last decade, Roy has been a trusted consultant addressing a myriad of complex challenges. He's collaborated with numerous hospitals nationwide, assessing their emergency management and disaster preparedness capabilities. Roy has also served as a lead evaluator during full-scale disaster exercises, showcasing his leadership and expertise in crisis management.
Roy's contributions extend to education and training. He co-authored the Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) for Healthcare Facilities training program and has led COOP training events at numerous hospitals, demonstrating his commitment to preparedness. Additionally, he authored Four Strategies to Reduce Emergency Department Overcrowding and Transforming Hospital Capacity Through Smarter Patient Progression Strategies, providing actionable insights to improve healthcare efficiency.
A proponent of performance optimization, Roy has led process improvement projects using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. His efforts have resulted in measurable improvements in metrics, the development of effective and loyal teams and the assurance of financial integrity and stability. Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Roy held a significant role as the Regional Director of Capacity and Throughput for Emergency Departments at Tenet Healthcare. In this capacity, he provided analytical insights, feedback and identified opportunities for improvement across 20 hospitals in the Texas region. His previous roles also include Director of Emergency Services at a 519-bed facility in Memphis, Chief Nursing and Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
Roy holds a master of healthcare administration and a master of science in nursing from Walden University. His comprehensive academic background further solidifies his position as a seasoned professional in the healthcare industry.
