Mark Newton is a Senior Vice President with Kaufman Hall, and a leader in the firm’s Revenue and Operations Improvement (ROI) practice, with a focus on Revenue Cycle optimization. He works with executives from a full range of healthcare organizations, helping them to implement sustainable, data-driven performance improvement strategies.
With nearly 30 years in the healthcare industry, Mr. Newton’s experience spans all aspects of the revenue cycle, including scheduling, patient access, charge capture, revenue integrity, coding, billing, follow-up, collections, and patient experience. He was a Managing Director with Cumberland Consulting Group prior to joining Kaufman Hall. In that role, Mr. Newton led revenue cycle engagements, including assessments, EHR software implementations, and staffing initiatives. His previous experience includes serving as Vice President of Revenue Cycle Advisory Solutions at MedAssets, Managing Director for Provider Performance Improvement at FTI Healthcare, Senior Manager of Healthcare Advisory Services at Accenture, and Vice President of Product Management at Omega Health Systems. Earlier in his career, Mr. Newton held multiple leadership roles at other firms, including Vice President of Revenue Cycle at NDC Health/Integra Health Solutions, and Manager of the Healthcare Practice at Ernst & Young.
Mr. Newton holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Oklahoma State University. He earned Certified Managed Care Professional and Fellow designations from the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
