Katerie brings over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She is a transformational healthcare executive with an impeccable track record for driving clinical, cultural and operational excellence. Her professional capabilities span the care delivery continuum, and she has specific expertise in safety culture, process improvement, organizational change, operational effectiveness and strategic planning.

Before joining Kaufman Hall, Katerie was president of Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC). She joined VMMC in 2000 and helped transform the organization into a high-reliability, award-winning destination medical center for patients nationally and internationally. A cultural architect, her leadership approach emphasizes people and partnerships. Katerie is highly regarded for creating environments that enable clinicians and other team members to thrive and deliver the best care and experience possible. She is known for developing innovative, strategic partnerships, including direct-to-employer contracts that are well positioned on high reliability and appropriateness, featuring Fortune 100 companies.

Katerie earned a master’s degree in health administration and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Washington. She's completed six Toyota Production System immersion learning tours and is certified in the Virginia Mason Production System®.
