Kaufman Hall Advised MUSC Health on Acquisition of Four Hospitals from CHS

CHICAGO, Ill. – In late November of 2018, Community Health Systems, Inc. announced that subsidiaries of the Company have signed a definitive agreement to sell four South Carolina hospitals – 82-bed Chester Regional Medical Center in Chester, 225-bed Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, 396-bed Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, and 124-bed Carolinas Hospital System – Marion in Mullins – along with related businesses, including physician clinic operations and outpatient services, to Medical University Hospital Authority in Charleston, S.C. which is the legal entity of Medical University of South Carolina or MUSC Health.

Kaufman Hall acted as the exclusive financial advisor to MUSC Health on this transaction which is expected to re-shape the landscape of health services in South Carolina.

The transaction closed on March 1, 2019.
